HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

We had so much fun using conversational hearts in our math lessons. We talked about estimating and related it to a handful of "Cherrios". We didn't want to give silly answers, so we thought really heard about how many "Cherrios" we could hold in our hand if we were getting a snack.
Here is an anchor chart showing our estimations. As you can see, some of our estimations/guess's were really close, and some of them were WAY off (including Mrs. Redfern's). We took time to discuss how an estimation/guess is rarely the actual amount. An estimation is not wrong, unless we are being silly about it.
First, we colored the hearts with the different colors we found in the box!
Next, we sort them!
Alexis, Paul, Michaela and Kayla count the number of hearts they have for each color.
In these pictures, you can see how Corbin and Abril graphed the number of hearts vs. colors.

We have spent all year counting up to 100. On this special day, we look at all the differnet ways we can get to 100, whether it be counting by 1's, 5's or 10's. We created a poster of "100 Helping Hands" to hang in our room. We are really proud of this project!
We had fun taking turns making a poster of "100 Helping Hands".
My friends created 100 Day hats after reading the "The Wolf's Chicken Stew".
